MEGA International, the global leader in business process analysis and enterprise
architecture modelling solutions, has today introduced an advanced version of the MEGA ITSM Accelerator that will help private and public sector organisations deploy ITIL(R) faster and more efficiently.
The IT Infrastructure Library(R) (ITIL) is a customisable framework of best practices to improve IT service management, in areas such as change management, configuration management, software control & distribution, release management, and help desk operations.
ITIL, published by the British Office of Government Commerce, is grounded on fundamental principles such as client orientation, service level agreement, and quality management.
The MEGA ITSM Accelerator is a graphical, ready-to-use repository of ITIL best practices. It enables IT managers to deploy these best practices in a consistent framework, thus reducing project risks and implementation costs.
Because service management is so critical to the efficiency, cost control, and reputation of an organisation, IT departments continually seek to implement best practices to optimally manage the IT services programme. The MEGA ITSM Accelerator enables IT departments to deploy these best practices as reusable models in a consistent framework, both quickly and cost-effectively.
This new MEGA ITSM Accelerator offers improved presentation and navigation between the ITIL elements. The software is more intuitive and efficient, and the presentation enhancements make it easier to understand the issues and determine where to start an ITIL project.
In particular, MEGA has added a deployment approach, which is embedded in the library, and serves as a guide for project deployment. Further, a consulting service dedicated to the deployment of ITIL has been created to address the full range of ITIL project requirements.
The MEGA Accelerator is built on MEGA Process, the powerful business process modelling tool of the MEGA Modeling Suite. It is integrated with MEGA Publisher, which enables communication to IT executives and employees about IT operations. It is one facet of the MEGA approach to IT governance, which is based on management of the organisation of the IT department, the quality of the IT architecture, and application design, from business requirements to quality of development.
Processes delivered by MEGA ITSM Accelerator are provided as reference processes. When IT departments describe how they intend to deploy ITIL best practices, they relate their own implementation to the reference processes. The effective separation of concern between reference processes and implementation processes is a major asset of MEGA ITSM Accelerator. It allows the union of several projects into a common repository, like using ITIL reference processes as a guide for an incremental adoption of a new organisation.
ITIL implementation processes described with MEGA ITSM Accelerator in the MEGA
repository will be compatible with ITIL software packages provided by software vendors such as Compuware, BMC, HP, IBM or Computer Associates.
