Thomson Learning Selects SunGard’s AvantGard for Receivables Management

Calabasas, CA - 13 August 2007

SunGard today announced that Thomson Learning, a provider of education, training, reference and assessment solutions, has selected SunGard’s AvantGard Receivables Management solution to help improve cash flow, reduce operational costs and increase visibility across the Order-to-Cash cycle. AvantGard helps customers to improve liquidity management and operational control around receivables, treasury and payments processing.

Effective management of accounts receivable is a critical area to target for liquidity management and process improvements as it is a key driver of cash, cost containment and customer relationships. SunGard’s AvantGard provides an end-to-end collaborative financial management solution which is able to touch cash coming in and out of the enterprise at every point, thus giving the CFO and treasurer tools to help drive maximum value from working capital and help reduce risk.

“Having had first-hand experience of the benefits and success of the AvantGard Receivables solution in the past, I was aware of its ability to turn complex finance and accounting operations into world-class credit and collection facilities,” commented Stan Slonka, director of credit services at Thomson Learning. “SunGard’s AvantGard is a proven solution, and I am therefore confident that Thomson Learning will experience fast improvements in DSO (days sales outstanding) and free cash flow.”

“A weak link in the Order-to-Cash cycle can hurt the entire financial supply chain and lessen the value of the credit and collections department,” said C.J. Wimley, chief operating officer at SunGard’s AvantGard Receivables business. “By driving automation, workflow and collaboration across the Order-to-Cash cycle, companies gain control of their trade receivables which helps them to increase liquidity throughout the financial supply chain. Further, by consolidating data from disparate systems and platforms, companies can gain visibility for improved cash forecasting and risk analysis.”
