Credit Suisse hires hedge fund high flyer from ABN Amro

Credit Suisse has hired one of ABN Amro's top fund managers to head up the emerging markets fixed income department for its asset management division.

Raphael Kassin joins the Swiss bank having left Dutch bank ABN Amro on Friday, where he had been installed as head of Global Emerging Market Debt Portfolio and was responsible for overseeing $8 billion worth of assets.

The Swiss bank's decision to hire Mr Kassin comes after he consistently achieved good returns on investments, leading to the team he managed being awarded the Emerging Markets Fixed Income prize at the Morningstar's 2006 Fund Manager of the Year awards.

Commenting on the hire, Paul Griffiths, managing director and head of fixed income for asset management, said: "As one of the leading emerging market specialists I am sure he [Raphael] will be a central player in meeting out strategy to grow the fixed income business."
