ACTIV Financial dramatically expands sales team to keep up with market activity

New York, NY – 27 September 2006

ACTIV Financial has recently completed a significant expansion of its sales and distribution abilities with the addition of five new members to its sales team. Frank Piasecki, President of ACTIV Financial explains: “ACTIV Financial has been experiencing tremendous client interest for its low-latency direct and consolidated exchange feeds from institutions looking to power both algorithmic and traditional trading interfaces. The demand for high-quality market data is systemic by all participants from market makers driving auto-quoting engines, to Algo trading engines, OMS interfaces, and even online brokerage web sites.” ACTIV offers a unique set of capabilities including direct ultra-low latency feed handlers, vendor of record distribution of datafeed and terminal interfaces.

In the Americas, ACTIV has appointed Shawn Kaplan, Tom Wilbeck, and Tony Tao to increase its distribution directly to financial institutions as well as through business alliances with trading platform vendors, prime brokers and clearing firms. Shawn Kaplan is a 15+ year veteran of the market data industry including the past 11 years at Reuters, most recently as Business Manager for the Reuters Plus workstation and content licensing through Reuters Online. Previously, Shawn led the introduction of the Reuters RDF Feed in the Americas as well as datafeed efforts for both Telerate and Dow Jones.

Tom Wilbeck comes from over 6 years of experience as a vendor to the financial markets specializing in market data feeds, middleware and front end displays at Reuters. Formerly, Tom's broad experience includes execution front-ends, order routing networks and back office systems. Tony Tao, also from Reuters, managed Focus Group accounts in New York before re-locating to London. Previously, Tony held positions in product management as well as content acquisition.

In Singapore, ACTIV have engaged Timothy Neo and Patrick Dunne to lead its newly established Asia Pacific focus. Tim comments, “The geographical spread of the Asia Pacific markets presents unique challenges for participants. ACTIV’s multiple deployment models featuring consolidated, direct and hosted solutions provide market data consumers with optimal, ultra-low latency market visibility. In particular, ACTIV’s co-hosting approach provides the level playing field required for trading non-local securities.”

Prior to ACTIV, Tim came from Siebel Systems where he was Managing Director, Financial Services, East Asia. In that role he was responsible for selling Siebel’s retail banking solutions to financial institutions in East Asia. Tim also spent 12 years at Reuters where he held a number of senior positions. He was responsible for Reuters overall business strategy and execution in the Asia market. Additionally, he held various key management positions with Cognotec and Eontec and was responsible for business development for Asia Pacific markets.

Patrick Dunne joined ACTIV with over 15 years of implementation, delivery and client support experience in the capital markets and retail banking space. Pat began his career implementing the first generation of digital market data distribution platforms for ACT Financial Systems. He reflects, “The demands of market data consumers have come a long way since then - I’m not convinced the industry has kept pace. Starting four years ago with a wealth of experience and a blank sheet, ACTIV set out to address all of the legacy issues in market data. If ACTIV’s new found domination of the options market is an indicator then its succeeding.”
