DATASYNAPSE PARTNERS WITH ELCA TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF APPLICATION VIRTUALISATION IN THE SWISS MARKET

DataSynapse, a global provider of application virtualisation software, has formed a strategic partnership with ELCA, one of Switzerland's largest independent providers of IT development, systems integration, consulting and hosting. The partnership will support growing interest in application virtualisation in the Swiss market.

The companies have been working together since April this year with the partnership formally confirmed in June. Under the terms of the partnership, ELCA will engage at senior levels with its customers to introduce DataSynapse and its solutions, GridServer(r) and FabricServer(tm). GridServer is application service virtualisation software that virtualises distributed application services across a heterogeneous resource environment. FabricServer virtualises application platforms across a shared infrastructure, adaptively provisioning applications at runtime based on business policy and demand.

DataSynapse has established itself as the leading provider of application virtualisation software in the financial services sector. By combining DataSynapse's financial expertise and ELCA's in-depth knowledge of the Swiss financial market, Swiss clients will have access to a proven virtualisation solution that reduces the cost and complexity of IT infrastructure while promoting faster delivery of value to the business. The partnership will also target organisations outside of Switzerland's traditional banking and insurance sectors.

As volumes and complexity of traded products increase, existing IT solutions are unable to perform risk calculations in the required timeframes with financial institutions demanding faster access to risk results to allow this information to be reflected in pricing decisions.

DataSynapse and ELCA are promoting their partnership at a joint event to be held on 20 September at Credit Suisse Forum St. Peter, St. Peterstrasse 19 in Zurich. Aimed at Swiss IT architects, securities and risk executives from the banking and insurance sectors, the event will focus on financial applications and the increasing need for compute resource, with speakers from ELCA, DataSynapse, and Quantis Informatik, a Swiss IT company. The event will also feature a case study presentation by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich focusing on application virtualisation at Swiss Re, one of the world's leading and most diversified reinsurers.
