Dresdner Klienwort creates $300m movie fund

6 October 2006

Paramount Motion Picture Group and investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort have partnered to create a fund that will finance at least 30 films under the Viacom banner.

MTV Films, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures will all have new development as part of the $300 million fund.

The fund is named the Melrose Investors 2 Fund and Dresdner Kleinwort executive Laura Fazio said: "The successful closing of Melrose 2 demonstrates a strong investor appetite for the film sector, as well as Paramount's considerable appeal to the investor community."

The last Melrose PMPG release was very profitable, and was kicked off with the teen hit Mean Girls in theatres.

The 2007 films that will be funded under the current release include titles Freedom Writers, Shooter, Norbit, and the Spiderwick Chronicles.
