HimawariCX Selected MetaBit’s FIX Solution for TOCOM Market Data Distribution

Tokyo, Japan – 10 October 2006

Leading Japanese commodity broker HimawariCX has selected MetaBit’s solution to distribute TOCOM (Tokyo Commodity Exchange)’s realtime market data for commodity futures prices through the FIX protocol.

HimawariCX has licensed the FIX market data distribution solution provided by MetaBit, an ISV of TOCOM. The decision represents a planned milestone in HimawariCX’s strategy to strengthen their lead position in servicing commodity trading customers in and outside Japan. In 2005, HimawariCX already FIX-enabled its commodities trading infrastructure to MetaBit’s Market Liquidity Hub (MLHTM) with a CameronFIX direct market connectivity to TOCOM’s native exchange protocol.

“HimawariCX is as a leader in Japan’s commodity futures industry, being the only futures commission merchant to cover domestic and international Exchange Traded Derivatives and OTC markets 24 hours a day. The latest offer to provide TOCOM realtime market data through FIX into our trading terminal highlights our commitment to responding to clients’ trading needs,” said Mac Sugitani, HimawariCX, Executive Director, International Business Department. Mr. Sugitani continues, “By utilising FIX technology for market data distribution, HimawariCX has achieved a strategic edge on technology to provide low-latency market depth trading to our domestic and offshore client base. MetaBit’s experience in FIX and specialised trading solutions has been essential to realise this objective.”

“Efficient and low latency distribution of TOCOM’s market data for broker members’ trading solutions is increasingly becoming a critical success factor in the commodity futures industry. A large number of commodity futures participants are based in South East Asia, and competition for market share between Asia’s commodity exchanges is growing,” says Daniel Burgin, MetaBit’s CEO. “MetaBit is very pleased that HimawariCX had selected our proposed solution to build a low-latency TOCOM market data distribution platform based on the FIX protocol. It represents a successful business case where FIX proves its capacity for market data distribution. As a result of this success, MetaBit is planning to extend its TOCOM ISV membership for official market data distribution, as well as pioneering FIX and FIX FAST for Japan’s other major exchanges such as TSE and OSE.”
