Banco Portugues de Negocios (BPN) achieves risk management goals by selecting Misys Banking Systems for IAS and Basel II compliance

18th January 2006 - Banco Portugues de Negocios (BPN), the Lisbon-based bank, has selected Basel II and IAS solutions from Misys Banking Systems to manage its regulatory and compliance risks.

Misys Basel II and Misys IAS will enable BPN to achieve its goal of managing its risks centrally, with consistency, coherence and accurate results across all departments and divisions. Because of the single integrated platform used to deliver both solutions, BPN now has the option to extend its use in the future for other key business processes, such as ALM and FTP.

Joao Goncalves, Director, BPN comments, "This enterprise risk management system will allow us to be fully compliant with the Portuguese regulations. At the same time, the analysis and isolation of our risks has been revolutionised. We will be able to conduct analysis at the contract level, allowing us to provide the regulators any information they require."

Michel van Leeuwen, Risk Management CEO, Misys Banking Systems, says, "We are delighted to be delivering a superior Basel II and IAS solution to BPN. Our knowledge, domain expertise and a proven record of rapid project implementation success was a deciding factor in BPN selecting Misys above other providers in the market. Since acquiring Almonde six months ago, we are fast becoming the provider of choice in this space, as evidenced by the great number of client wins since acquisition."
