Yet another analyst report has confirmed SASâ leadership in the enterprise risk management space. SAS, the leader in business intelligence, was ranked first in the âcore risk technologyâ category and second overall in Chartis Researchâs RiskTech 100 report. The report, an overall market assessment of the top risk technology vendors, examined each vendorâs functionality, core technology, organisational strength, customer satisfaction and market presence.
âOur top ranking speaks volumes for SASâ leadership in the risk market,â said Peyman Mestchian, SASâ Director of Risk Management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. âCore technology is the foundation for effective enterprise risk management and SASâ technology is unmatched.â
Chartis believes that âthe traditional silo-based approach to managing risks adds little value to the business.â As a result, âcore technology platforms [such as SAS become] enablers of change.â
Applauding the companyâs breadth of offerings, the Chartis report states that âSASâ â¦key strength is its superior data management and risk analytics capabilities, providing the ability to offer a true end-to-end solution.â
While Chartis highlights both SAS Credit Risk Management for Banking and SAS OpRisk Management as software market leaders, SAS also provides offerings that address anti-money laundering, fraud detection and asset liability management.
The RiskTech 100 core technology category examined each vendorâs capabilities in data management, risk analytics and reporting. Noting that SAS is âvery strong in the areas of data integration, data storage for analytics and data quality management.â Chartis highlights those areas as âcritical to the success of any risk technology project.â
In risk analytics, Chartis named SAS an âindustry leader in performing complex analysis of large amounts of dataâ with SASâ âoptimisation routines and data handling capabilities ⦠[providing] superior performance (time and cost) over most of its competitors.â
For reporting technology, Chartis recognised that âSASâ business intelligence (BI) capabilities provide a flexible environment for customers to define and generate risk measurement and monitoring informationâ which âfacilitate a two-way interaction between users and systems allowing for risk diagnostics, scenario analysis and key risk indicator monitoring.â
Last month, SAS was positioned in the Leaders quadrant by Gartner Inc. in its Magic Quadrant for Basel II Software Applications, 2006 report.
