Sectornet and Attunity speed up insurance processes

31 October: New partnership to offer Open Database Connectivity driver for brokers

Attunity, the strategic Enterprise Integration Platform of choice for organisations looking to implement real time and on-demand data and information integration, has developed a new Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver with Sectornet, the systems provider to insurance and financial services firms. This will double reporting speeds for brokers, driving down costs and increasing profitability.

The ODBC driver will bring brokers closer to their customers by significantly increasing the speed of reporting, provision of quotations, and management of policies at the desktop. It will also connect more end user applications to additional data sources, making huge volumes of corporate data more readily available.

The Attunity solution will integrate with Sectornet’s core product, Sector, which is designed to run a broker’s entire business. This includes full back office administration and accounting, claims and risk management, intelligent workflow, full document management, quotation facilities and comprehensive management reporting.

It also allows third party reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access to extract data directly from the Sectornet database and provides reporting speeds more than twice as fast as Sectornet’s previous driver. At the same time, it also provides the groundwork for further functionality enhancements in the future.

Richard Branch, managing director of Attunity, said: "This new development with Sectornet proves that our partnerships are more than a piece of paper or a logo on a website. The insurance sector is a key area for us and this partnership with Sectornet has further integrated us into the market. We have created an ODBC tool that outstrips the previous driver easily and will be used not just in the insurance sector but across financial institutions which use Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access."

Sectornet managing director John Lipscomb comments: "Attunity has helped us deliver a state of the art ODBC driver that will provide very significant functionality benefits to all of our clients. We know that Sectornet’s broker clients use tools like Crystal extensively to generate management information reports, so they will notice a big improvement in performance, resilience and in the range of reporting options the new driver supports."

Sectornet delivers complete technology solutions to insurance brokers and underwriting agencies across the full range of broking activities including the commercial, London market, personal lines and financial services markets. Sectornet was founded in 1976.
