Amsterdam, Netherlands â 12th October 2005 â Tridion, a recognised European leader in content management solutions, today announced that Forrester Research has positioned Tridion as a leader in Web Content Management (WCM) solutions in the retail industry in Forresterâs Wave: Web Content Management For Retail Q3 2005 (August 2005). Forrester assessed nine WCM vendors in the areas of current offering, strategy and market presence. The report places Tridion as one of only three companies in the "leader" category. Earlier this year, Tridion was cited as a leader in Forresterâs April report: "The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management, Q1 2005".
To assess the state of the Web Content Management marketâs approach to the retail industry, Forrester evaluated top vendors across 200 criteria. Forrester found Tridion to be a âleaderâ with a strong retail focus.
"The framework Unilever developed within Tridion enables our Communication Managers to create consistent country websites simply and without any web or technical knowledge. The solution has enabled us to rapidly provide 40% of our online consumers with a Unilever website in their local language. Within 12 months we expect this to rise to over 75%," said Tim Godbehere, Online Communications Manager at Unilever.
According to Forresterâs Wave: WCM for Retail Q3 2005: "As online retail competition grows fierce, online sellers look for ways to differentiate their sites and build unique experiences for their consumers. Many retailers now put a renewed focus on content to provide information to buyers â reviving the initial promise of the Web to combine content and commerce. To gain more mileage out of a WCM system, retailers should look to leverage their investments for other initiatives including Intranets, International sites and Multichannel marketing."
In the WCM Retail Wave report, Forrester analyst Tamara Mendelsohn states: "Tridion supports some major European retailers and its technology positions it to support dynamic, personalised sites as well as retailers that want WCM to be their central source of product and campaign content." According to the Forrester report, "Tridion offers one of the industryâs most robust catalogue and campaign management features along with strong personalisation capabilities â strong enough to act as the central source for catalogue and campaign data."
