Seekport UK partners with search engine specialists to drive B2B development of UK-specific search engine business

Cogito to focus on B2B market development for Seekport’s new search engine solution

London, 15 March 2005 – Seekport, the innovative European search engine company, has announced a business development partnership with Cogito Associates Limited, the specialist UK search engine consultancy, to help drive the B2B roll-out of its new www.seekport.co.uk UK-specific search engine. Cogito will work with Seekport to help identify and develop B2B opportunities for its search engine technology in key market areas such as media and publishing, where Seekport’s UK-oriented search focus will prove a powerful asset.

Seekport recently launched the beta-version of its UK-specific search engine. Seekport is already established in Germany and France with an aggressive plan to roll-out across Europe in 2005. The Seekport search engine delivers significantly higher hit quality than traditional US-centric search offerings. This is achieved through the combination of innovative search engine technology with a unique local quality indexing team to dramatically cut spam and ensure that users gain faster access to relevant UK and market-specific content.

"We selected Cogito to work with us in the UK because it has highly-regarded experts in the UK search engine market," commented Joachim Kreibich, Seekport Managing Director. "Its in-house team consists of search engine specialists who’ve already worked closely with innovators such as Alta Vista, Espotting Media, ESpottingFindWhat.com, and have also been involved in the development of the DoubleClick Dart advertising product. This is exactly the kind of expertise we need to help drive Seekport’s initial growth in the UK B2B market."

"With its quality focus and relevancy for local users, Seekport brings a breath of fresh air to the UK search engine market," commented Robert Crompton, Managing Director of Cogito Associates. "It is true that search engines such as Google serve the general web user’s expectations well at the moment, but we’re seeing a growing B2B requirement for a search engine that can offer UK-specific, spam-free, relevant search results. With Seekport’s concentration on local country team personnel to support each region’s site we are already experiencing significant interest in the concept and the technology powering it."

Seekport uses a powerful vertical and blended search capability to make it an optimum search technology for use in the B2B space, where leading content providers in sectors such as media and publishing can use it to develop new business opportunities based on their content archives.

Joachim Kreibich added: "Seekport’s UK-specific search capability makes it an ideal ‘white-label’ engine for B2B search functions, giving organisations the power and search relevancy they demand without the up-front commercialism typically associated with US search solutions. A good example of this could be an equestrian web portal run by a horse magazine that uses Seekport technology to provide a search button to search either its own content library or the entire web ‘in context’."
