London: Aconite Technology Ltd, leading international provider of smart card software solutions and consultancy, has announced the appointment of Senior Consultant, David Worthington, as part of its international expansion plans to meet growing demand for EMV technology know-how in the UK, Middle East, Asia and Canada. David brings over 17 years experience in smart card and EMV technology to Aconite, most recently as a banking technology advisor for the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and Central Bank.
The appointment of David Worthington will support Aconiteâs expanding consulting services, as banking and retail sectors migrate to full EMV adoption. Visa predicts that, by the end of 2005, nearly 90 per cent of European Visa cards will carry an internationally interoperable chip â requiring substantial investment in technology and consultancy by card-issuers.
David will advise clients on EMV migration and exploitation of new technologies, as well as programme planning and implementation. As part of a growing operation of over 50 people, he will also help Aconite to further develop its consulting services as the EMV market extends beyond card fraud to managing risk, maximising card revenue and increasing customers through improved debit and credit services.
Davidâs experience in smart card technology and EMV migration has included development of business and technology solutions for banks, regulators and suppliers to the National Debit Card Scheme and International Card Schemes. In previous roles, he defined and implemented business and technical strategy and programme-managed national initiatives, including EMV, Electronic Billing and Payment, and finance sector PKI services. He also developed capabilities by working for HSBC, NatWest, Mondex International, Keycorp, and the UK Ministry of Defence in IT project management, business development, and service delivery roles.
David Worthington said, "Aconite has an excellent reputation for consulting services and software solutions. Although Europe leads the world in EMV migration, many other regions are making significant progress in the global migration to chip cards, and I look forward to extending Aconiteâs presence in these markets."
Mike Woods, CEO of Aconite, commented, "David brings extensive industry knowledge to Aconite, as well as unique experience of the Middle East market. With high demand for expertise in EMV and smart card technology, I am delighted that David is joining us to drive forward our solutions and consulting services business."
