LONDONâ13 June, 2005âIPS-Sendero, a unit of Fiserv, Inc. (Nasdaq: FISV) and a provider of technology solutions and education for enterprise risk, will host a series of seminars on managing credit risk in financial institutions in four European cities 15-22 June, 2005. The eventsâ theme is "The Influence of Macro-economic Conditions and Cyclical Effects in the Management of Credit Risk," and will address how financial institutions can enhance overall financial performance by utilising credit models to timely manage credit portfolios before default occurs.
Dr. Donald R. van Deventer, chairman of Kamakura Corporation, IPS-Senderoâs strategic enterprise risk management partner, will be the eventsâ featured speaker. The seminar series schedule will begin in Paris 15 June, followed by London 16 June, Frankfurt 20 June and Amsterdam 22 June. Issues to be addressed in the seminars include how the existing economic environment creates dependencies between defaulting enterprises, the impact of changes in macro-economic factors on a counterpartyâs credit risk and which models provide the best approximation of reality and predictability.
"As both the Basel Committee and Bank of England have noted, many proprietary risk models make simple distributional assumptions about losses that do not contain a systematic risk component," said Nigel Sirett, managing director EMEA, IPS-Sendero. "IPS-Sendero and our partners are presenting these seminars as an opportunity for financial institutions to better understand the impact of the economic cycle on their credit risk and capital modelling."
Dr. Donald R. van Deventer is the author of various publications and books including "Credit Risk Models & the Basel Accord" and "Advanced Financial Risk Management." He is also CEO of Kamakura Corporation. For more information or to register for this event, please contact IPS-Sendero in London at +44 207 388 7363.
