London, July 1, 2005. Barclays Bank PLC has awarded Getronics, the worldâs largest European-owned IT service provider, an EUR 8 million contract to rollout a new IT infrastructure across its 1,700+ UK branches. The investment and the IT upgrades are an essential component of Barclays continuous drive to improve customer satisfaction.
The 28-month project will be managed by Getronics from a dedicated Project Management Office, allowing it to oversee end-to-end implementation including user training, installation, logistics, business change management and third party supplier management. The existing branch infrastructure was seen as hindering change to the business and the new infrastructure will enable Barclays to use advanced customer focused software solutions and applications.
"We needed a partner who would be able to help us facilitate business change," said Kevin Robson, Programme Manager, Barclays Bank PLC. "By entrusting the project to Getronics, we have been able to take a step back from the day-to-day branch delivery activities, allowing us to focus on our core strengths and most importantly, on our customers."
"Getronics has been working with Barclays for over 16 years," said Guita Blake, Director, Barclays Business Unit, Getronics. "As one of our core customers, we have an unmatched knowledge of the Barclays business, and are delighted to be extending our service to the bank."
This new contract complements the two-year EUR 34 million contract awarded by Barclays to Getronics in August 2004, to provide maintenance and support for over 100,000 IT assets across its entire UK branch and head office network.
"This contract represents a further deepening of the Barclays and Getronics relationship, which in itself demonstrates the level of confidence we have in the commercial and operational propositions emanating from Getronics. We are looking forward to working with the Getronics team to deliver this roll out contract over the next couple of years." Said Frank Tudor, Barclays Supplier Relationship Manager.
