IDG WORLD EXPO TO HOST THE UK’S ONLY LINUX EVENT THIS YEAR

LinuxWorld to take place at Olympia from 5-6th October 2005

London, 13th July 2005: IDG World Expo is set to host the UK’s one and only Linux and Open Source technology trade event this year. LinuxWorld is expected to IT decision makers, business professionals and Linux enthusiasts from a cross-section of industry including automotive, health, banking, retail, education and local government. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place at Olympia from 5th – 6th October 2005.

The event is the only Linux & Open Source trade event in the UK, following the merger last year of LinuxUser & Expo and LinuxWorld Conference. Participation has already been confirmed by some of the largest players in the Open Source world, including Novell, Sun Microsystems, Red Hat and Oracle.

The two-day event will include a comprehensive conference programme, featuring industry experts such Andrew Eddie from Toowoomba City Council in Australia who will give an overview on the implementation of Open Source within local government. Andrew is a developer of Mambo Open Source content manager systems.

"LinuxWorld 2005 is set to be the biggest and best Linux and Open Source event in the UK," commented Richard Hease, event director, Turret Group, who is organising the event. "We have already signed up some fantastic exhibitors and speakers and are aiming more than ever to champion the mainstream use of Linux in both public and private sectors."

The event will also feature the infamous .Org Village, which will showcase some the projects, campaigns and organisations, which have been, and still are, key in the development and distribution of free Open Source technology.
