"Online publishers and content managers are constantly creating and managing documents with information about publicly traded companies," explained Gregg Fidan, VP of Product Development at FinancialContent. "Those publicly traded companies can be identified instantly by running them through SmartTicker 1.0."
Available as a web service, SmartTicker 1.0 scans both text and XML-based documents against a master database of publicly traded company names. Clients can extend the database with their own custom list of company names and their variants and apply both inclusive and exclusive tickerization rules to generate a customized output.
SmartTicker 1.0 can automatically enhance documents by embedding them with stock ticker-related hyperlinks or with XML-based ticker metadata. SmartTicker 1.0 can also simply return a list of stock ticker symbols that can be easily integrated into 3rd party applications.
"Once documents are tickerized, they can be categorized and made more useful to the people who access those documents," added Wing Yu, CEO of FinancialContent. "Our Innovative Technologies Group is closely working with both online media and financial services firms to develop applications like SmartTicker 1.0 to meet the needs of financial information workers worldwide."
