Dow Jones newswires reporter Nic Fildes wins best technology journalist of the year at the techmark awards

LONDON (Nov. 29, 2004)—Nic Fildes, a London-based technology and telecommunications reporter for Dow Jones Newswires, was named Technology Journalist of the Year at the recent techMARK Awards ceremony; the first time such an award for journalism has been presented at this event.

The awards, which are sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the London Stock Exchange, are held annually to recognise achievement and reward success in the U.K. technology market. The Technology Journalist of the Year award—sponsored by Corfin Communications—attracted a large number of nominations from fund managers, analysts, bankers, brokers, lawyers and corporate advisers and was selected by a 15-member panel of judges, which included representatives from the corporate-finance, banking, public relations and venture-capital arenas.

The judges praised Mr. Fildes for his incisive, accurate and readable commentary, as well as his in-depth knowledge of the technology behind the companies he writes about.

Mr. Fildes, 26, has been with Dow Jones Newswires since 2000. He has been covering technology since late 2001 and added telecommunications to his beat in January 2002.
