Anvil Software Ltd in the RBS Inner City 100 Awards 2004

At the annual RBS Inner City 100 awards ceremony in the City of London, Nov 16 2004, Anvil Software was identified as one of the 100 fastest growing inner city businesses in the UK. This award is for private companies, measuring growth in turnover over the last four years, and also recognises contribution to the local area.

The sponsors of the awards include the Royal Bank of Scotland, HM Treasury, the Financial Times and the New Economics Foundation. John Humphrys of BBC Radio 4’s Today Program and Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Paul Boateng, presented the awards.

Earlier, in the afternoon, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown hosted a reception for leaders of the 100 companies at No 11 Downing Street. Both he and the visiting US Treasury Secretary, John Snow, gave speeches praising the entrepreneurs and their contribution to revitalising the inner cities.

Joe Nicholson, Managing Director of Anvil Software says, "It is a great honour for Anvil to be ranked in the Inner City 100. It is a testament to the hard work of our staff to maintaining our growth over the past few years – difficult ones particularly for the financial software services industry. The master class run by the London Business School as part of the awards was very useful in sharing experiences with other entrepreneurs from the diverse industries and regions represented in the Inner City 100. For me personally, the trip to Downing Street was a real treat"
