GFSRiskPlus Service Powered by SunGard’s Reech RiskHedge

London, — 4 May 2004 — The Global Fund Services (GFS) division of The Bank of Bermuda Limited (a member of the HSBC Group) has launched GFSRiskPlus, a web-based risk management and analytics system targeted at alternative investment fund managers.

GFSRiskPlus was developed with SunGard’s Reech, a leader in the field of risk management, pricing and independent portfolio valuation services. It allows managers to proactively manage and analyse the risk in their portfolios. Delivered via the web, it provides users with a scalable, cost-effective and resilient means of risk management.

Drew Douglas, head of product management for GFS, commented: “GFSRiskPlus addresses industry demand for greater transparency, and manager and investor demand for a more efficient way to access, monitor and manage portfolio risk. It provides clients with easy, reliable access to their portfolios, already uploaded, and a dynamic and interactive risk management engine.

"Many of our clients trade complex strategies and, for this reason, we chose SunGard’s Reech as the underlying technology to GFSRiskPlus. It has the ability to support a broad range of asset classes and financial instruments, and its internet availability eliminates integration and external data management concerns."

GFSRiskPlus allows managers to view different types of risk including market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk and scenario analysis. Results can be viewed across categories such as market and sector results, value at risk, Beta results, relative value at risk, greeks, liquidity results, short sensitivity and scenario analysis. GFS has also developed standardised investor reporting packages (GFSRisk reports) that a manager can choose to distribute to underlying investors.

Christophe Reech, president of SunGard’s Reech, said: "Reech RiskHedge enables hedge fund managers to conduct detailed and comprehensive risk analysis across different strategies, as well as to calculate and report several different types of risk measures. By partnering with GFS and integrating Reech RiskHedge into its operating environment – GFSRiskPlus – together, we provide hedge fund managers with the completeness and flexibility needed to report risk across varying types of portfolios under management."
