This is the Chippenham based company's second US contract with Leisure Pass North America LLC, having successfully implemented the New York Pass which was used by over 40,000 people in 2003.
It is expected the pass will drive business and help visitors to make the most of their stay in the city. Philadelphia is the fifth largest city in America and has a huge tourist market, with 22.83 million visiting in 2002 and numbers on the rise. Philadelphia is proud of its history. The city can boast America's first hospital, first medical school, first stock exchange, first mint, first theatre, first protest against slavery, first zoo, first department store and even the first computer. So it is not surprising that this innovative and vibrant city is embracing the next step in city passes, the smart card solution.
The Philadelphia Pass will go on sale in May 2004. Prices will start at $39.00 for the one day pass and visitors will also be able to buy two, three and five day passes. Pass holders will skip the queues at popular attractions such as the Academy of Natural Sciences, Independence Seaport Museum, National Constitution Center and the Please Touch Museum. Philadelphia is renowned for its shopping and nightlife and holders of the pass will benefit from discounts at big name stores, restaurants, clubs and cinemas including Gallery at Market East, Franklin Mills, City Tavern, Hard Rock CafÃ© and Genoâs Steaks (world famous Philly Cheese Steaks). Businesses themselves can benefit by gathering information about their customers through a web accessed database.
