NEW YORK, January 26, 2004-- SunGard Energy Systems, an operating group of SunGard (NYSE: SDS), today announced that London-based Shell Energy Trading Limited (SETL) has selected Entegrate NG to support its European gas operations. SETL will replace its legacy systems with Entegrate NG so that it may create a more streamlined, efficient gas operation on a single technology platform.
SETL was created three years ago to handle the trading of Shellâs gas and power positions in Europe. Entegrate NG will be a mission-critical, end-to-end solution for SETL, providing it with a single platform from which to operate physical gas movements across Europe. It will perform the balancing function, integrating with SunGardâs Entegrate ZaiNet, which SETL has successfully been using as its trading and risk management solution since its formation.
John Moulton, general manager of SETL, said, "As the European gas industry continues to evolve, we seek the distinguishing capability of operational excellence. We therefore require a technology platform that can help us to achieve operational efficiency as a competitive advantage. Entegrate NG will help us to create a more streamlined operation by enabling us to optimize physical gas trading and scheduling across the whole of Europe on a single, consistent and efficient platform."
Mr. Moulton added, "As the industry for gas and power across Europe becomes more complex, we expect our technical requirements to become more demanding, not only in terms of features and functionality, such as granularity, but as a platform that can support growth, easily accommodate change and adapt. Entegrate NG can help us to meet these technical challenges. With SunGard, we gain the additional confidence of partnering with a trusted, financially stable and wellâestablished provider in Europe."
Entegrate NG helps energy companies to manage and solve complex issues such as energy convergence, integration, internationalization and the need for an enterprise-wide view of profits and losses, risks and trading positions. Entegrate NG provides a Web-based, configurable user interface, helping to reduce installation, deployment and maintenance costs. Hourly capabilities are supported throughout the system from deal making, to nominating and scheduling, and settlement and invoicing. Entegrate NG uses Enterprise Java Beans and messaging technology within a multi-tiered architecture that allows for greater scalability, more flexible systems integration and faster performance.
John Andrus, president of SunGard Energy Systems, said, "Entegrate NG helps energy companies to solve the operational, technical and functional challenges of today as well as tomorrow. Clients can additionally rely on SunGard to be a long-term vendor partner, helping them to realize incremental returns on their investment in our solutions."
