BURLINGTON, MA -- August 30, 2004 â Charles River Development, a leading provider of financial software and consulting services to the global investment management, banking, pension, and insurance industries, today announced that NWQ Investment Management Company, LLC, an affiliate of Nuveen Investments, Inc., has completed its implementation of the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS) to support its equity, fixed income, and balanced portfolio strategies. NWQ manages more than $20 billion in assets for corporate and multi-employer plans, public entities, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals.
Charles River IMS has helped NWQ streamline its entire trade-cycle process, from "what if" analysis and portfolio rebalancing, straight through to electronic order execution and trade settlement connectivity. During the implementation process, NWQ utilized Charles River IMSâ standard interfaces to Omgeoâs OASYS trade allocation and acceptance service and the FIN accounting system. These interfaces facilitate seamless, electronic transfer of trade information from NWQâs third party applications with Charles River IMS to eliminate keypunch errors and reduce processing time. The result is faster reporting. NWQ is also taking advantage of Charles River IMSâ embedded FIX engine to send and receive FIX-based trade messages.
"Charles River IMS combines an integrated trading and compliance platform that supports NWQâs robust growth, especially in institutional relationships, with the flexibility we need," said Kirk Allen, head trader at NWQ.
NWQ has implemented Charles River IMS v7.2, the second deliverable in Charles River's next-generation technology strategy to offer its market-leading investment management suite on an open, platform-independent, services-based architecture that is able to scale and transform in conjunction with an investment manager's evolving business model. Charles Riverâs new technology strategy introduces a Java-based Compliance engine, Web-based reporting tools, an XML/XSL Trade Gateway, and additional Messaging and Web Services APIs for systems integration.
In addition, Charles Riverâs new technology incorporates numerous functionality upgrades including enhanced portfolio modeling capabilities, Mortgage trading and TBA processing functionality (including EPN connectivity), FIX-based algorithmic trading, FIX-based fixed income allocations, and support for ISO15022 standards.
