DOW JONES NEWSWIRES LAUNCHES "DOW JONES TRADENEWS EMISSIONS" NEWSLETTER

LONDON (9 August 2004) – Dow Jones Newswires, the world’s leading independent provider of real-time business and financial news, has launched "Dow Jones TradeNews Emissions", the first German-language newsletter covering the European industry in trading emissions allocations for hot carbon dioxide. The newsletter is produced by Dow Jones-VWD News, which was formed when Dow Jones & Company acquired the news unit of vwd-Vereinigte Wirtschafttsdienste GmbH ("vwd") in March 2004.

"Dow Jones TradeNews Emissions" provides timely and accurate market intelligence for companies who will be affected by EU emissions certificates trading, which officially starts on January 1, 2005. The new legislation will affect about 2,400 firms in Germany and more than 5,000 firms across Europe.

The information in the newsletter is drawn from a variety of Dow Jones news services and publications including Dow Jones Energy Service. While the newsletter is available only in German language, an English-language version is being considered for launch in October 2004. Coverage includes:

· Market developments and news on emissions trading

· Current market reports

· Certificate price data

· Practical and relevant advice on in-house implementation

· Case studies

· Trading strategies

"We are delighted to publish the first newsletter in Germany covering this new and evolving sector," said Dr Matthias Paul, managing director, Dow Jones-VWD News. Dow Jones TradeNews Emissions has been launched in response to the complex legal and regulatory framework required with the introduction of emissions trading. We’re confident that our content will provide companies with the information they need to effectively implement these changes."

"Dow Jones TradeNews Emissions" will be delivered electronically in a pdf format every two weeks.
