THOMSON FINANCIAL ENHACES SALES TEAM IN EUROPE

London. 27 October, 2003 -- Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), and provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced the appointments of Thalius Hecksher as Sales Manager, Ireland, to strengthen its position in Ireland, together with the appointment of four salespeople in London.

The London sales team is strengthened with four appointments, all reporting to Richard Garnier, UK Sales Director:

- Jason Nabi, Head of Sales for PORTIA and Vestek/Quantec, Europe
Nabi is responsible for driving the sales and support for Thomson Financial's European Buy-Side STP business, integrating Thomson Financial's portfolio and risk solutions products. Before joining Thomson Financial, Nabi was Regional Director of Almonde, a provider of integrated risk and performance solutions and prior to that, he spent two years at Algorithmics, where he helped lead the risk management vendor's channels and alliances business. He was Consulting Sales Manager at IBM Global Services - trading & STP practice and spent five years at Bloomberg where he was Sales Manager, responsible for sales of Bloomberg's transaction products. Jason started his career as an Equity Trader on the London Stock Exchange.

- Brian Miranda, Business Development Manager
Before joining Thomson Financial, Miranda spent nine years in a variety of roles at companies within Reuters. These included Sales Specialist at Reuters Solutions, Team Leader for the Internet solutions business at Bridge Information Systems and a number of sales roles at Dow Jones Markets.

- Tom Glanville, Sales Manager, UK
Prior to joining Thomson Financial, Glanville spent a year as Business Development Manager at Dun and Bradstreet's Integration Solutions Team focusing on the financial vertical. Prior to that he was UK Sales Manager at ARIS, the IT services company.

- Hanah Graham, Account Manager, UK
Prior to joining Thomson Financial, Graham spent three years at Reuters Research, formerly Multex, latterly as Account Manager and before that, two years at Druid Systems plc.

In Ireland, Thalius Hecksher, Sales Manager Ireland, Thomson Financial reports to Alan Whyte, Sales Director, Scotland and Ireland. He joins following four years in a number of increasingly senior positions at Reuters, where he was ultimately responsible for sales and business development for major accounts in Ireland.
