Institutional Shareholder Services' VoteX platform uses CREST for proxy voting

London, 20 January - Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), the leading
provider of proxy voting and corporate governance data services, announced
today that its VoteX proxy voting platform will immediately begin utilising
CREST's new electronic vote processing technology. CREST is the major electronic settlement system for UK and Irish securities.

By adopting this new technology, provided through Syntegra's SettleNet service, ISS expects to significantly streamline the vote execution process, improving reliability and speed for custodial banks and institutional investors across Europe that use VoteX.

"ISS's VoteX platform, in combination with SettleNet, allows the concept of
straight through processing to be applied to proxy voting," said Cheryl Gustitus, ISS vice president of communications. "As a result, its proxy vote
instructions are executed accurately, reliably and with greater speed."

Through a web-based platform, VoteX allows fund managers to access all relevant meeting information - including ISS's proxy research and voting recommendations - and efficiently vote their proxies at the account level
anytime, anywhere.

With more than 18 years experience, ISS is the world's leading provider of
proxy voting and corporate governance services, covering in excess of 22,000
meetings across 80 markets worldwide and providing institutional investors
complete meeting agendas, expert analysis and vote recommendations to make
informed decisions.
