"Some of Britain's most successful business innovators, entrepreneurs and
academics will be taking part in the first London Innovation Conference at
the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in London on 17 March 2003.
Chaired by leading news broadcaster, Kirsty Wark, this unmissable event has
been organised by the London Development Agency to promote innovation as a
key driver for competitiveness and crucial for business survival in the
current economic climate.
An eminent line-up of speakers includes Lord Sainsbury of Turville, Sir
Richard Sykes and Sir Derek Roberts, plus other leading innovators spanning
the creative, manufacturing, telecommunications, IT and tourism industries:
Ralph Ardill, the creative genius and CEO of IMAGINATION, Simon Woodroffe,
the inspirational force behind the YO SUSHI chain, L-SHIFT co-founder & CEO,
Andy Wilson; Harry Berry, Head of BT Brightstar; Suran Goonatilake,
co-founder of Searchspace; and Ken Powell, CEO of Arrow Theraputics, to name
The focus throughout the day will be on practical information, advice and
first hand experience with plenty of opportunities for networking and
intelligence gathering. Participants can attend a combination of seminar
sessions exploring themes such as intellectual property, creativity and
design in business as well as practical solutions for funding and setting up
business partnerships with London's many universities and research
facilities. There will also be hands-on creative workshops, an on-site
"innovation clinic" and the chance to quiz some of the country's best-known
creative minds directly during the day's many question and answer sessions.
The conference will also mark the launch of the London Development Agency's
Innovation, Knowledge and Science Strategy which aims to tackle the key
barriers to innovation in London, with the aim of enabling businesses to
commercialise their research ideas.
