About DoD 5015.2 Certification

DoD 5015.2-STD defines the basic requirements based on operational, legislative and legal needs that must be met by records management application (RMA) products that are acquired by the Department of Defense (DoD) and its Components.

This Standard is issued under the authority of DoD Directive 5015.2, "Department of Defense Records Management Program," April 11, 1997, which provides implementing and procedural guidance on the management of records in the Department of Defense. This Standard sets forth mandatory baseline functional requirements for Records Management Application (RMA) software used by DoD Components in the implementation of their records management programs; defines required system interfaces and search criteria to be supported by the RMAs; and describes the minimum records management requirements that must be met, based on current National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regulations.

This Standard applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, and the DoD Field Activities (hereafter referred to collectively as "the DoD Components").

Functional Approach to Compliance for FYI:

Identitech integrates and re-sells IBM’s Records Management solution (previously offered by Tarian) as part of the FYI Product Suite. FYI and IBM Records Manager V2.0 (RM) act together to manage electronic, e-mail, and non-electronic records. Documents and e-mail filed through FYI remain in the FYI repository in their original, native file format. Users manage documents stored on other media, such as paper, diskette, or tape, as records by adding profile data through the FYI user interface. FYI used in conjunction with IBM Records Manager V2.0 was certified as compliant with the revised version of DoD 5015.2-STD dated June, 2002.

FYI with records management is available immediately, through GSA schedules and various state-level buying options.
