ADP/SIS offers real-time risk management with Trading Power application

Wheat Ridge, Colorado - April 28, 2003 - ADP/Securities Industry Software (ADP/SIS), a division of Automatic Data Processing, Inc.'s (NYSE: ADP) Brokerage Services Group, announced the rollout of Trading Power, the first industry product to perform calculations in real-time that determine an investor's available cash for purchases or withdrawals, while simultaneously running a real-time margin analysis on every transaction. The real-time values that Trading Power produces can be accessed from many ADP/SIS systems as well as from web-based trading sites. Additionally, the values are available in POSSESM, ADP/SIS's broker desktop tool.

Trading Power's real-time calculations were designed to help firms assess and manage the risk associated with fast-paced trading decisions. ADP/SIS developed Trading Power in alliance with Bidwell & Company, a leading discount brokerage firm based in Portland, Oregon.

The Trading Power application produces real-time values that represent the maximum amount a customer can buy and the greatest amount a customer can withdraw, as well as the amount that can be applied to new commitments without incurring a new cash debit, or a maintenance, house, or initial call. Investors will benefit from the timely and accurate representation of purchasing power and/or funds available for withdrawal or purchases.

Flexible parameters control how the calculations are performed, allowing firms to be as conservative or liberal as desired. For example, the real-time values can be reduced by open orders and/or delayed deposits. Firms can specify whether cash available in margin and cash accounts should be combined, and whether to factor in money market balances into the calculations.

Julie Bussing, executive vice president of Bidwell & Company stated, "The ADP/SIS Trading Power application provides a real-time number designed to facilitate online trading and risk management objectives. No other brokerage system has a real-time capability that factors in all the relevant variables. "This translates into a new unprecedented level of service for our customers and added protection to our business operations."

David Swift, general manager of ADP/SIS said, "The Trading Power application is designed with risk management needs for both firms and their clients in mind. With more web-based trading applications and the requirement for more stringent credit standards, this type of computing power must be in place to reduce risk - at both the firm and investor levels."

As a leading provider of securities and information processing software solutions, ADP/SIS specializes in serving discount and electronic-based retail brokerages, as well as correspondent clearing, day trading, regional broker dealers, banks and institutional firms.
