SG has contracted with Aleri to handle all IT activity relating to its SIRIUS international business application which has been developed over 12 years, based on mpct's Atlas international wholesale banking operations software. Also included is Compaq NSK hardware, the Guardian operating system and all non-SIRIUS components running on the Compaq NSK platform.
Aleri, which has provided operations support to SG London since 2000, has housed SG's Compaq NSK production and development systems at its new dedicated facility in Woking. This is fully secure and incorporates the latest safety and risk control procedures according to SG specification. IT operations for all business of Société Générale Madrid and Frankfurt, as well as all payments and retail banking business of Société Générale London, are handled from this centre.
Says SG's EVP for Global Banking Services Gilles Leflambe: "We have already reduced our exposure by rationalising our operations and outsourcing to a central point. Aleri knows us well and the service is proving both flexible and responsive. We see potential for further risk reduction and we are demonstrating improved performance. It is proceeding according to prediction."
Confirms Klaus Laqueur, VP Production Support Services of Aleri: "It is particularly encouraging that the benefits are showing so clearly only six months after we started the integration process. We have been able to suggest ways of using the existing SG infrastructure to ensure seamless working from the business users' perspective."
