Ernst & Young LLP issued the SysTrust certification following an audit of the effectiveness of alterna's controls over the security, integrity, availability and maintainability of its data center, called the alterna Shared Solutions Center (alternaSSC). Only providers that demonstrate the highest level of control and operate without material error, fault or failure over a period of time receive the SysTrust seal.

The SysTrust seal is issued under guidance established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). A SysTrust evaluation, performed by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA), measures the reliability of a service provider's system based on the standards set down by the AICPA and CICA relating to security measures, system processing integrity and the ability to update the system while continuing to meet the previously mentioned requirements.
