First productive use of WebSphere MQ Integrator on z/OS

Zurich, 19.08.2002 - The integration of existing internal and external systems and partners is becoming increasingly important as Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) gains ground. Against this complex background, Systor reports the first productive use anywhere in the world of WebSphere MQ Integrator for the z/OS operating system at the Swiss Association of Raiffeisen Banks.

Last year, Systor had already developed an EAI platform (banking bus) for the Swiss Association of Raiffeisen Banks (SVRB), which linked the central z/OS applications of the SVRB with the local Raiffeisen bank branches, numbering about 530.  Subsequently securities management at the individual Raiffeisen branches was hooked up via the banking bus to the central system of the SVRB. The use of the banking bus not only reduces programming, configuration and operating costs but also helps achieve essential improvements in performance. What's more, further Raiffeisen branches can be connected to the banking bus with relative ease.

The platform is based on the IBM products WebSphere MQ and WebSphere MQ Integrator. Following a brief interim solution on SunSolaris, the EAI
platform was migrated to z/OS. That means that WebSphere MQ Integrator is now successfully in productive use for the first time anywhere in the world.
