The magnitude of Tuesday's tragedy is just now being fully appreciated,
particularly its impact on those in the risk management business. Risk Water Group reports that 53 delegates to its risk technology conference on the 106th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center are missing along with 16 Risk Waters staffers. Risk Waters is still seeking information on another 45 delegates to the conference. I have frequently spoken for RISK in that venue and was slated to do so again on October 4. We pray for the missing and hope for the best.
We wish to honor these missing friends from London, Tokyo and the United States and honor the spirit of Cantor Fitzergerald, which opened trading of the U.S. bond markets at 7 a.m on Thursday after losing all 700 of its New York staff in the office on Tuesday. We refuse to let this attack on our friends and colleagues affect our collective energy or spirit.
My partners and I would like to offer any assistance, personal or professional, that is necessary for our competitors, our friends, our clients, and any institution whose operations have been affected. Amit Matta of Kamakura's New York office is on site at one of the major New York offices. We are eager to assist in the search for information on the missing, particularly for friends and family who can not reach New York.
We are prepared to offer office space, computing power, and risk management assistance on demand to anyone who needs it.
Please forward this offer of assistance to anyone whom you believe might need our help. Any of us below can launch our assistance immediately:
