Ian joins Alterna from SWIFT, the Belgium-based global financial communication provider, where from 1995 to 2000 he was Head of Public Relations. From 1988 to 1995, Ian worked for Reuters, the global information, news and technology group, where he held senior corporate communications roles in Hong Kong, Tokyo and at the company’s head office in London. From 1986 to 1988, Ian was Group Director - Corporate Affairs for Hill and Knowlton Asia Limited in Hong Kong. From 1981-1986, he was Manager - Publications and Employee Communications for Montreal-based Alcan Aluminium Limited.
Ian began his career as a journalist in Canada. From 1975 to 1981, he worked consecutively for The Montreal Star newspaper, The Canadian Press national news agency and The Vancouver Sun newspaper. Ian holds a BA in history and political science from Trent University in Ontario.
