Greenlight Financial Technology, Inc. has partnered with Google to integrate Greenlight’s debit card into the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch. This initiative aims to enhance financial education and independence for children, providing them with a practical tool to manage their finances while offering parents peace of mind.

The integration of Greenlight’s debit card into the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch allows children to make contactless payments without the need for a phone or physical card. This feature is designed to help kids practice smart spending and financial management in a safe and controlled environment.

Tim Sheehan, co-founder and CEO of Greenlight, stated, “At Greenlight, we’re always looking for new ways to help parents raise financially smart kids and teach them healthy financial habits. Teaming up with Google to integrate Greenlight into kids’ smartwatches allows us to bring families even more peace of mind and convenience as their kids become more independent.”

Parents can manage their children’s finances through the Greenlight app, which offers a range of functionalities. These include sending money instantly, automating allowance payments, managing chores, setting flexible spending controls, and receiving real-time notifications. This comprehensive suite of tools empowers parents to instil responsible spending habits in their children while keeping a close eye on their financial activities.

The Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch is not just a financial tool; it is designed to be fun, safe, and helpful for families. It features immersive 3D games that transform exercise into play, encouraging kids to stay active by rewarding different types of movement. Additionally, the smartwatch includes safety functionalities such as reliable calling, messaging, and location sharing, ensuring that parents can stay connected with their children at all times.

Ben Greenwood, Fitbit Ace LTE Product Lead, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We’re excited to collaborate with Greenlight to bring tap-to-pay capabilities to the Fitbit Ace LTE, giving parents a valuable tool to instill responsible spending habits and help kids gain confidence while they learn important money skills.”

With over 6.5 million users, Greenlight’s award-winning debit card and banking app have already made a substantial impact on financial literacy among children and parents. The addition of the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch to their suite of tools further enhances their mission to help families raise financially-smart kids.
