Asset managers working across a variety of regimes are faced with an uphill struggle with the volume of data required to comply with shareholder disclosure rules, a panel told bobsguide recently.

“Regulators are expecting a lot more detail generally. The Transparency Directive in the EU drove a push for greater transparency globally,” said Gaurav Chandra, global product manager – shareholding disclosures at AxiomSL. “They want complete data transparency.”

Collecting the data in order to comply across a variety of regimes can be a serious challenge, added Harish Gopalakrishnan, director at Refinitiv.

As part of the AssetManTech video series Chandra and Gopalakrishnan were joined by Rebecca Clayton, senior associate at aosphere.

“A lot of the challenges are with managing the data,” said Chandra. “It’s crucial to look at the rules with the data.”
