NASDAQ-listed asset management company Northern Trust has partnered with New York-listed cloud-native investment management software provider, Enfusion, as part of the Northern Trust “whole office” strategy, to provide mutual clients with simplified workflow services.

As a result of the collaboration, institutional investors will benefit from streamlined portfolio management, order, and execution management system (OEMS), and analytics capabilities.

“Institutional investors are looking for holistic solutions that combine ease of use with best-of-breed optionality,” said Marc Mallett, global head of “whole office” strategy at Northern Trust.

“By integrating Northern Trust’s suite of services with the Enfusion platform, we can answer the growing demand for end-to-end, orchestrated ecosystems for the entire investment lifecycle.”

Northern Trust’s “whole office” strategy aims to service diverse market participants by integrating proprietary architecture with technology partners.

The alliance will accelerate the implementation of mutually supported interfaces between the two parties, improving data access and operational efficiency.

Enfusion also co-developed a mutually supported interface, in use by several joint clients, with Northern Trust’s existing partner, Equity Data Science (EDS) – a US cloud-based asset analytics platform.

Besides Enfusion and EDS, Northern Trust has also partnered with BlackRock and IHS Markit, utilising their asset management platforms Aladdin and thikfolio, respectively.

Following the Enfusion partnership, Northern Trust also announced a collaboration with client lifecycle management software provider, Fenegro, to support the financial giant’s private capital fund managers and investors with digitisation.

Northern Trust’s prior partnerships, among others, as part of its digitalisation programme, include collaboration with alternative investment data analytics provider, Accelex, to boost the digitisation of its alternative asset services.

Northern Trust’s move underscores an accelerating trend among asset servicing companies and administrators aiming to widen their suite of services, as larger financial providers develop better in-house capabilities and shift more and more technology management in-house.
