Despite the first week of August bringing warnings of a global recession, and the technology industry continuing to struggle, several notable fintech moves were confirmed. While new appointments have dwindled recently in the face of economic downturn, not all firms have halted their investment to bring in experienced talents to lead their technology developments.

Here are this week’s most notable fintech moves.

Arvest Bank

Arvest Bank continued its commitment to technology transformation by announcing two new hires in Ninish Ukkan as CTO and Bryan Hicks as head of product, APIs and embedded banking.

Ukkan joins the bank from Nielson Financial Services where he held an equivalent position to his latest role. Prior to that, he spent three years as CTO for Green Dot Corporation where he led the cloud migration and enterprise data platform for the company’s banking-as-service platform.

Hicks joins Arvest after nearly two years as VP of product management in Derive Systems. His notable previous experiences include various product management roles at Ford Motor Company and AT&T as well as a director position at SAP.

Barclays

Isaac Davies has re-joined Barclays as the treasurer for the bank’s Europe operations after more than three years as managing director, Asia treasury at Bank of America.

His previous spell at Barclays lasted nine years, serving as managing director, CFO, in Japan between 2009 and 2015 before moving to Singapore as Managing Director, treasurer for the Asia Pacific until 2018.

Before that, Davies held an SVP role at Lehman Brothers from 2004 to 2009.
