NTT Communications and Omantel Agree to Collaborate on Wholesale IP Services

The Agreement Builds on Shared Commitment to Expanded Reach for NTT Com and Omantel’s Customers

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the global data and IP services arm of Fortune Global 500 telecom leader NTT (NYSE: NTT), and Omantel, a leading GCC wholesale communication solutions provider, announced today an agreement to collaborate on wholesale IP services at several locations worldwide.

This agreement creates considerable synergies for both companies in several markets around the world in terms of reach, bandwidth capacity and market expertise, and builds on a shared commitment to further improving the service portfolio available to their customers around the world.

“We are delighted to partner with Omantel and look forward to a strong and mutually beneficial collaboration,” said Clive Hamilton, vice president of Network Services – EMEA at NTT Europe. “NTT Com is a trusted partner that can quickly respond to growth in demand for high performance wholesale IP capacity without compromising quality,” Mr. Hamilton added.

"We are committed to further extending our customers’ regional and global reach and help them achieve their business goals,” said Sohail Qadir, Vice President Wholesale Business, Omantel. “As the owner and operator of one of the region’s largest networks, we strive to provide services that exceed our customers’ expectations, and we are confident that this collaboration will help us reach that goal,” Mr. Qadir concluded.

This collaboration will expand the reach of NTT Com’s Tier-1 Global IP Network and offer Omantel’s enterprise and wholesale customers more options to connect at several locations around the world. Similarly, Omantel will provide NTT Com with low-latency backbone capacity that will further enhance the robustness and reliability of NTT Com’s IP backbone.

The announcement brings together two well-respected companies in the telecommunications industry. NTT Com was recently named Best North American Wholesale Carrier for the second year in a row at the Capacity Global Carrier Awards 2015 and Best Wholesale Operator at the 2015 World Communication Awards (WCA).

Omantel was recognized as the most valuable brand in Oman by the annual brand survey of Brand Finance and voted as the Most Trusted Brand in the telecom sector in the Sultanate according to the Oman Economic Review, a local English magazine. Benefitting from the unique geographical location and the political stability of the Sultanate, Omantel owns one of the largest submarine networks in the middle east with 5 landing stations hosting more than 10 international submarine cables connecting east with west.
