Following over 4 years of development, Derivation is proud to announce that our brand new interface, the Derivation High Performance Flexible Front End (Derivation Flex), has been launched, and will be available in general release from this month.
Designed from the ground up using Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Flex provides a thoroughly modern, flexible, user experience in an application designed for maximum performance and reliability. Flex’s high capacity capabilities allow it to handle seamlessly real-time P&L and risk for hundreds of thousands of holdings.
Behind the scenes, although Flex has been predominantly coded in C#, it includes a revolutionary F# functional API. Our customers and support professionals are able to extend the software directly by writing their own functions in the .NET F# language. They have direct access to the same (public) classes and methods as our own developers. This allows extensions to the software without waiting for new releases. Sophisticated new columns of data can be easily added with this powerful programming language, giving our customers total control over the software.
We will continue to add extensively to Flex over the months to come, with this initial release providing a complete order management system, managing funds with multiple holdings, portfolio rebalancing and order routing to brokers via file, email or to Bloomberg EMSX via FIX. Both pre and post-trade compliance monitoring are included, with real-time, intra-day and historic post-trade compliance reporting and a full audit trail of compliance actions.
Derivation CEO, Richard Bray, said “Bringing out Derivation Flex has been a personal goal since the new technologies involved first became available. We have put a lot of thought into the look and feel of this platform, with the whole team focused on getting the fundamentals just right. With such solid foundations, we can now confidently expand on Flex’s capabilities, continuing to deliver to our customers the very best in technology and experience.”
From inception, Derivation has been built in close consultation with our clients, and we continue to invest heavily in product development, with customers involved at every stage of the process. This helps us to remain at the forefront of market changes and to cater precisely to users’ practical requirements.
