Thomson Reuters will provide tools, content and integrated solutions for enterprise research needs
Thomson Reuters today announced that it has been awarded a new multi-year contract from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide research resources for the agency. As the primary enterprise-wide provider of online legal and tax research for the IRS, Thomson Reuters will provide an array of leading solutions and content from its Legal and Tax & Accounting businesses. As many as 20,000 IRS professionals across the agency’s multiple divisions will have access to WestlawNext™ and WestlawNext Tax augmented by integrated content from Thomson Reuters Checkpoint.

Checkpoint content provided to the IRS will include: Federal Tax Coordinator 2d, U.S. Tax Reporter Library, PPC Tax Compliance Deskbooks and Planning Guides, and WG&L Treatises and Journals.
The integrated solutions and content will support agency personnel in researching tax laws around enforcement actions; identifying relevant statutes, codes, treatises, and other documents for policy advisory purposes; and searching cases to develop briefs to support the agency in legal actions. It will assist taxpayer resolution representatives, customer service representatives, revenue agents, international agents, attorneys and other personnel in conducting a full analysis of a tax return, whether part of the audit process, collection process, or assistance process.
