BNY Mellon Appoints New Chair of Enterprise Product Management Group

Nikos Kardassis will lead new role overseeing product management across Asset Servicing and strategic client platforms

BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, announced that Nikos Kardassis has been appointed to oversee the enterprise product management group, strategic program management, and Asset Servicing product management. He joins BNY Mellon from Jet Airways (India), where he was CEO.

Kardassis will be responsible for developing product strategy across BNY Mellon's four main investment servicing platforms for asset owners, asset managers, insurance firms, and financial intermediaries / private banks.

He will report both to Tim Keaney, Vice Chairman and CEO of Investment Services, and Samir Pandiri, Executive Vice President and CEO of Asset Servicing, and joins BNY Mellon's operating committee of senior executives.

Dan Wywoda, formerly head of global product management for Asset Servicing, takes on a new role leading strategic programs, with responsibility for major, complex projects key to Asset Servicing's growth and development. He will report to Kardassis.

"Nikos has more than two decades of leadership and business management experience and a proven track record of driving innovative product development and profitability, which will serve us well as we shape the future of Investment Services," said Keaney. "Dan has done outstanding work leading Asset Servicing's GPM team the past six years, and we look forward to his continued guidance and expertise on strategic projects."

Kardassis first joined Jet Airways as CEO in 1994, then again in 2008, initially as head of Americas and senior advisor to the board where he led efforts to restructure the airline's costs, operations and network, and its return to profitability. He became the company's CEO for the second time in 2009.

From 2001 to 2005, Kardassis was co-head of the Merrill Lynch Investments & Wealth Management Group, and president and CEO for the Merrill Lynch Insurance Group. Prior to that, he served as president for GE Capital Aviation Services from 1999 to 2001. Kardassis began his career with the airline TWA, holding various positions in the U.S. and Europe. He went on to serve as vice president of TWA's International Division in London.
