Equinix, Inc. (NASDAQ: EQIX), a global provider of interconnection and data centre services, has announced the appointment of Donald Badoux as the new managing director of the company’s German division as of January. Equinix currently operates ten International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centres in Germany, located in Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf, and intends to expand and further the company’s growth in this region under Badoux’s leadership.
“The German market is a key market for us, both in terms of European business and internationally speaking. Our strong presence there offers our clients a clear competitive edge,” says Eric Schwartz, President of Equinix Europe. “Donald Badoux has an impressive track record as the manager of network and data centre providers. I therefore firmly believe that by working closely with our highly qualified team in Germany he will play an important part in the continued growth of Equinix.”
By recruiting Donald Badoux, Equinix has succeeded in acquiring a specialist in the data centre sector with more than 20 years of career experience to his name. He will join Equinix from his position of managing director of SAVVIS Germany GmbH, which he has held for the past two years. Prior to this position, he was responsible for the German business activities of euNetworks and held various executive positions in sales, among others at Verizon, Ericsson and BT.
“In this day and age of cloud computing and big data, global data centre networks have become much more important than previously assumed by many – and Germany in particular has a key role to play here thanks to its geographic location and its economic significance,” says Donald Badoux. “Equinix already occupies a very strong position in this market, and I now look forward to contributing my experience and my expertise in order to play a part in the company’s ongoing success story as a global pioneer in this field.”
