Ian Stewart Appointed Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon's Treasury Services Business

  • Formerly with BNY Mellon's Global Client Management group, new Treasury Services CEO has extensive banking industry experience
  • Stewart replaces J. David Cruikshank, who has been appointed BNY Mellon's market segment leader for Corporates and Public Finance

BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, has appointed Ian K. Stewart as chief executive officer of its Treasury Services business.  Stewart succeeds J. David Cruikshank, who has been appointed market segment leader for the company's Corporate and Public Finance clients.

"The fundamentals of Treasury Services – global payments, trade finance and cash management – are key to many of our client relationships," said BNY Mellon president Karen Peetz.  "In their new leadership roles, Ian and David will be instrumental in our continued delivery of flexible and innovative treasury services capabilities to clients around the globe."

Stewart began his 30-year BNY Mellon career in the company's management development program, subsequently advancing through a series of increasingly responsible management positions across a number of banking businesses, including Lending, Corporate Trust, and Risk Management.  He served as president of BNY Capital Markets prior to his appointment as chief operating officer of BNY Mellon's Global Client Management group.  At the time of his appointment as CEO of Treasury Services, Stewart served as head of GCM for North America, Developing Markets and EMEA.

Cruikshank is a ten-year BNY Mellon veteran who joined the company following more than ten years of service with Citibank and ABN AMRO in a number of senior management positions in their global transaction services organizations, including European Head of marketing, sales and service; global head of solution delivery; and head of client service for North and South America.  He served as global head of sales and relationship management for BNY Mellon's Treasury Services business prior to his appointment in 2011 as chief executive officer.

With locations on six continents and an extensive global network of correspondent financial institutions, BNY Mellon's Treasury Services business delivers high-quality performance in global payments, trade services, and cash management. The company is a top-five participant in both the CHIPS and overall funds transfer markets, and is a recognized leader in the delivery of private-label treasury services solutions for banks and other large institutional clients.
