Industry Performance Measurement and Asset Allocation Standard Now Largest in North America, Includes more than 1,700 Plans of Institutional Clients
State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) and Wilshire Associates Incorporated (Wilshire®), a diversified global financial services firm, and announced today that State Street Global Exchange has expanded its participation in the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service® (Wilshire TUCS®) enabling institutional asset owners to assess the allocation and performance of their assets in comparison to peers. With more than 1,700 plans and $3.4 trillion in assets, the resulting universe will be the largest in North America, giving clients an even broader data set to access while making investment decisions.
Wilshire TUCS now includes nearly all State Street’s institutional clients and funds of consulting firms that participate in the State Street Universe. Those clients will benefit from expanded comprehensive data and enhanced peer comparison capabilities on my statestreet.com, State Street’s client portal.
“Already considered the most widely accepted benchmark for the evaluation of institutional assets, Wilshire TUCS now is an even stronger universe providing comprehensive information on the effects of risk, allocation and style,” said Mark C. Hansen, president of Wilshire Analytics, a business unit of Wilshire Associates.
“The ability to aggregate, analyze and transform data has become the difference between remaining competitive and falling short,” said Jeff Conway, executive vice president and head of State Street Global Exchange. “In our recent data survey, only 22 percent of respondents think their benchmark data represents a significant strength. So there is a clear need for custom indices and benchmarks that can be tuned to a specific investment strategy. The addition of the fully-integrated Wilshire TUCS data with our existing suite of analytics helps address this challenge."
"The expanded number of Wilshire TUCS observations will allow participants to more closely assess how their asset allocation and performance stacks up against their peers," said Michael Gillooley, chairman of the Wilshire TUCS Committee. "The ability to base critical investment decisions on real world data is more important today than ever and that is exactly what Wilshire TUCS provides its participants."
Wilshire TUCS, a cooperative effort between Wilshire Analytics and custodians, also includes observations provided by clients of consulting firms that participate in other Wilshire universes. State Street Global Exchange delivers proprietary data, insights, analytics and trading solutions to address clients’ needs to make better investment decisions, generate superior returns, and effectively manage data and risk.
