Harland Clarke Announces New Identity Fraud Protection Program to Help Clients Acquire and Retain Account Holders

Leading Solutions Provider and NXG Strategies, LLC, Form Alliance to Serve Financial Institutions to Help Meet Needs of Account Holders

Harland Clarke Corp. today announced a new identity fraud protection program it will be offering its more than 8,000 financial institution clients to better serve their account holders. The leading provider of marketing services, payment and security solutions to banks and credit unions has teamed with NXG Strategies, LLC to deliver the Fraud-DefenderSM program. NXG Strategies is a recognized designer and manufacturer of innovative needs-based identity fraud detection, recovery and data breach response services.

Fraud-DefenderSM was developed by NXG to assist consumers in combating the devastating effects of identity theft. The suite of solutions delivers comprehensive and fully managed identity fraud research, remediation and recovery benefits, supported by current identity fraud detection technologies.

“Fraud-Defender is easy to understand, easy to implement and easy to use. These are all critical components of a successful identity fraud protection program,” said Matt Wier, vice president for Marketing and Product Management at Harland Clarke. “Fraud-Defender also employs stringent data security, further reinforcing its viability as a preferred service.”

According to the Federal Trade Commission’s 2012 Annual Report, for the thirteenth consecutive year, identity theft-related issues are the number one consumer complaint reported. Additional research indicates that most individuals trust their financial services provider to offer effective protection from this ongoing problem.1

At the same time financial institutions are focused on growth and increased profitability. To achieve both objectives, many banks and credit unions are looking beyond simple subscription model programs in favor of integrating fraud service benefits within the account. Although identity fraud is commonly considered a consumer issue, it is a very real threat for businesses, as well. Through Harland Clarke’s alliance with NXG Strategies, financial institutions can also offer its small business customers the tools they need to help detect, prevent and mitigate identity fraud and data breach.

“We are committed to helping our clients reach their growth goals and more effectively serve their account holders. Providing a market-leading identity theft protection service supports this commitment,” noted Rick Ebrey, executive vice president for Payment Solutions at Harland Clarke. “NXG’s programs are top-notch and complement Harland Clarke’s strategic business plans. We’re pleased to join our two businesses in this important endeavor.”

“Both Harland Clarke and NXG bring a high level of integrity to the identity theft services industry,” added Sally King, managing partner at NXG Strategies. “Through our alliance, we can continue to expand the reach of low-cost, high-quality solutions to consumers and businesses nationwide.”
