Wilshire Compass Portal℠ Launched in Time for Second Quarter Investment Manager Database Updates

Wilshire Associates Incorporated (Wilshire®), a diversified global financial services firm, have announced the launch of Wilshire Compass Portal, the enhanced web-based investment manager questionnaire which populates the firm’s PC-based fund management tool, Wilshire Compass.

“With the introduction of Wilshire Compass Portal, asset managers will be provided with asset class and style specific questionnaires designed to allow consultants and plan sponsors to gain greater insight into their strategies,” said Julia Bonafede, president, Wilshire Consulting. “The evolution of investment strategies from public markets into new market segments such as private equity, private real estate, target date funds, and risk parity strategies necessitates questionnaires designed specifically to each of their unique investment processes,” she added.

“Wilshire Compass Portal is a re-vamped and re-branded version of Wilshire Odyssey,” stated Charles Stunkard, managing director, Wilshire Associates. “Via Wilshire Compass Portal, we will be collecting new information online including manager biographies, organizational charts, and other information that investment managers will be asked to upload. In the near future, we also will be integrating the manager research due-diligence questionnaires into the new website to provide managers with one point of contact in providing Wilshire Associates the information needed to evaluate and score the investment management firm and their products,” he noted.

Wilshire collects information on more than 33,000 investment products. To track institutional money managers, it employs both experienced manager research professionals and state-of-the-art technology.

Earlier this month, in another demonstration of the firm’s commitment to continue to expand upon the investment technology services available via Wilshire Compass, Wilshire announced that qualitative evaluations had been added to Wilshire Compass Monitor, permitting fund sponsors who choose to do so, to further leverage off the work Wilshire is doing and combine it with their in-house investment expertise.

Wilshire Compass combines Wilshire’s comprehensive databases with sophisticated investment technology developed at Wilshire over the past 40 years. Wilshire Compass is unique in that it provides users with the tools necessary to address all aspects of a disciplined investment process in one complete system, including:

  • Formulate investment policy and implement strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate asset class and total fund performance and risk
  • Develop asset allocation and rebalancing recommendations
  • Select and evaluate investment managers
  • Analyze and optimize manager teams

All Wilshire Compass analytics can be tailored to fit the user’s individual investment process. The product is supported by experienced investment professionals who provide user training and consultative support at a level not available with any other investment technology product.
