SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services announces the appointment of Derek Flynn as its new UK Enterprise Sales Director. Flynn will be responsible for leading the SAS UK sales and alliances operations, and demonstrating to current and prospective customers how SAS can add real value to their business, especially in the current economic climate.
Flynn says of his appointment: “I am thrilled to join such an exceptional company and am looking forward to playing my part in this era of SAS UK growth. SAS’ reputation goes before it; it has an outstanding brand, a loyal customer base, talented people, fantastic products and a proven track record in delivering return on software investment.”
Flynn will work to ensure that SAS UK’s sales force is as best placed as possible to serve its vast number of existing and potential customers in the current climate. This means continuing to understand its customers’ business needs in-depth so as to be able to demonstrate, at a senior level, where and how SAS can add value.
Flynn goes onto say: “The downturn in the economy means that every business must reshape itself to meet the emerging needs of its customers. These challenges provide SAS with the opportunity to prove how our software and our people can address these very complex situations and provide a strong return on investment. Whilst SAS UK has clearly demonstrated success in 2008, there remain untapped opportunities in our target markets that we are looking to develop.”
Flynn brings with him over 20 years of experience in the software industry, having joined from the UK Board of SAP. At SAP, he held a number of senior roles including COO and General Manager of Solution Sales. During his time, he was responsible for the SAP and Business Objects integration. He also held sales management and global account management roles at Oracle, as well as senior sales management roles at Prime Response (Chordiant) and Siebel.
Ian Manocha, Managing Director of SAS UK states: “Derek is a perfect choice for this role and an excellent addition to the Board. He has managed a variety of different business functions, as well as sales, and will be able to ensure the whole organisation is aligned behind our customers. In 2008, we invested heavily in building strong vertical sectors and have already seen success in the likes of retail and telecommunications; with Derek on the team I am confident that we will continue to expand, even in this difficult economic climate.”
