Charles River Development (Charles River), an award-winning provider of financial software and services to the global investment management community, today concluded its 9th Annual Client Conference (Conference), held October 19 - 22 in Orlando, Florida. Despite budget considerations facing buy-side firms due to current market conditions, more than 475 attendees representing over 140 firms from 11 countries participated in the two- and a half-day event – discussing key industry trends and anticipated regulatory requirements for the global asset management industry.
“Today’s market requires technology solutions to keep buy-side firms ahead of the curve,” said Peter K. Lambertus, President and CEO, Charles River Development. “Our clients worldwide – from private wealth, to institutional, to hedge funds – demand greater control over trading strategies and best execution to support increased volatility, regulatory pressures and M&A activity. Our R&D investment – in relative and absolute terms – is the highest of any investment management system vendor. This helps clients grow their investment capabilities while reducing risk and operational costs.”
According to Conference attendee, Ken Fry, COO, Aberdeen Asset Management in London, the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS) architecture provides the flexibility and scalability needed to easily absorb acquisitions and expand into new markets.
“In over a dozen countries worldwide, Charles River IMS automates our global 24x7 dealing operations,” said Fry. “Since 2001, we’ve used the system to support our M&A activity, expand coverage of asset classes and increase automation of global processes, as well as ensuring that we can address any local requirement or client mandate.”
Through over 60 presentations, client panels, roundtable discussions and hands-on training, attendees addressed industry trends and learned about current and future product capabilities. Highlights included: a wealth management track; a trading track discussing liquidity trends and Charles River's algorithmic trading and execution management capabilities; and a compliance track featuring industry guest speakers and a special series of focus groups.
“Charles River has long been recognized for its front- and middle-office expertise and functionality,” said Tom Driscoll, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Charles River Development. “Our Conference gives clients a unique opportunity to discuss how they're addressing current market challenges with peers and provides us valuable feedback which we incorporate into our products and services.”
