Actuate Launches First World-Class Performance Management SaaS Offering, Actuate OnPerformance

Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU), the leader in Business Intelligence, Performance Management and Reporting Applications, today announced the launch of Actuate OnPerformance, the first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution from Actuate’s Performance Management portfolio. For many years, organisations across industries have taken advantage of Actuate’s Performance Management expertise and reputation for delivering easy-to-use applications to improve corporate performance. Actuate is now leveraging this know-how to extend choice to the growing number of organisations reluctant to purchase on-premise Performance Management software because of the prohibitive up front cost, enterprise-wide commitment and traditionally low adoption rates such deployments entail.

"It is common for Performance Management scorecard projects to take years from initial concept to implementation. Consequently, no real improvements in performance occur for a long time," said Mark Graham Brown, author 'Keeping Score', Productivity Press. "Actuate's new deployment model will allow organisations to automate their new scorecard and metrics within a few weeks. By minimising impact on IT departments, organisations can avoid many internal headaches and costs and actually begin managing with the new metrics in a timely fashion."

Actuate OnPerformance securely provides relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to managers who can positively impact performance. These KPIs are delivered without the encumbrance of a lengthy application development and deployment cycle. The easy-to-use, web-based solution provides a flexible system to address specific methodologies such as Balanced Scorecard, Malcolm Baldrige, as well as operational Performance Management initiatives. At the same time, OnPerformance helps to control the costs typically associated with traditional Corporate Performance Management deployments.

Actuate OnPerformance automates critical Performance Management processes that are typically inefficient, error-prone and incomplete, such as gathering performance information and commentary, as well as the production of regular Performance Management reports. It includes many of the same features as the Actuate Performancesoft Suite.

“Performance accountability can be hindered when IT organisations lack the time, resources or skills to implement an on-premise system,” said Kevin Baum, principal, inCentergy Consulting Group. “The Software-as-a-Service model lends itself well to getting actionable information into the hands of the right people, to directly impact corporate performance. We think Actuate OnPerformance will help end-users to understand their own relationship to organisational goals, and how their work is improving performance day-to-day.”

Actuate is uniquely placed to deliver the expertise and best practices needed to align customer KPIs with strategic goals and engage everyone in the process of Performance Management to ensure deployments run smoothly. With Actuate’s professional services offering, organisations can perform as little or as much of the design, creation and management of the deployment as suits their needs or resources. Actuate’s support options include database creation, population and support; facilitating discussions with key employees to create optimal design; tailoring reports and visualisations appropriate to the user community; and performing quality checks to ensure data accuracy, KPI relevance and reliability.

"We are on the cusp of a change that should have significant momentum in years to come. Anywhere from 17% to 23% of companies, depending on the PM investment area, would prefer a SaaS or on-demand purchase option." “Most executives recognise the business benefits of a Performance Management discipline, but are forced to postpone the acquisition of a system until it fits into their capital budget, or are constrained by the capacity of their IT department,” said Richard Stark, director of Performance Management solutions at Actuate. “One of the core values of an on-demand solution is the speed with which applications can be deployed and put into production. Actuate OnPerformance enables organisations to employ Performance Management best practices immediately, without shouldering the burden of purchasing, installing and supporting any additional IT infrastructure. Furthermore, Actuate has over seven years of experience in successfully deploying and supporting hosted Performance Management applications for leading firms.“
